The Best of Our Features

Built by women, for women—because the way a young girl sees her body is connected to whether she believes she is worthy of receiving love and capable of giving it.

The story of loneliness we seek to change:

1. Her first period begins

Around age 12, she gets her first period—often with little understanding of what her body is communicating. For many girls, this can be an emotionally vulnerable time. Without someone she trusts to talk to, confusion or pain can strain her relationships with the people who love her.

2. Shame takes hold

Unsure what is happening, she may feel ashamed of her body or experience pain without understanding why. She may turn to classmates who are navigating the same questions without reliable guidance.

3. She is dismissed

A doctor may prescribe birth control or tell her to live with the pain without helping her understand its cause or exploring the care her body deserves.

4. She grows up believing a lie

She internalizes the idea that her body is the problem and loses sight of her dignity. When girls see their bodies as separate from the meaningful lives they hope to lead, they may begin to resent their bodies—and themselves.

Be the change in her life

Protect her from the lies that her body is a disease and that to be a woman means to live in pain.
